Water wars. It’s a senior tradition across America, and our school is no exception.

Water wars is a merciless fight to be the one team left standing – or in this case, unsoaked –  in order to claim the grand prize of $1800.

This year, senior water wars are already well underway. The first round began at 5:00 PM on April 29th of 2018. Seniors had to choose their teams wisely, as there can only be five members of a team. Each team has one captain. The water war judges this year are Beck McNulty’18, Paul Roseler’18, and Andrew Jonna’18.

The war began with 18 teams, but now only the elite eight remain. Only four teams will move on at the end of this week to the semi-finals.

Every round begins on Monday and ends on Saturday at 10.

For every person hit with water, a team loses a point. At the end of each week the team who soaked more people wins. If there is a tie, the teams can decide the tiebreaker for themselves, or the judges will toss a coin to decide the winner.

Hitting opponents is not as easy as it seems. Players are not allowed to soak opponents on school grounds, work, and in their homes, just to name a few restrictions. However, it is required that between the hours 2:30 – 11:30 PM, players must be outside of their homes for at least 2 hours. Kevin Chen’18, who is on the Libido-Maxxxx team, says “Water wars is really fun. It’s thrilling to hunt down people and sneak around to make sure you don’t get hit.”

Overall, water wars are a fun experience for Seniors and a great way to celebrate graduating from high school. Plus, who doesn’t want the money? To all the seniors playing – stay safe!
