You never knew about these unique February holidays!

Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Hanukkah may have passed, but that doesn’t mean that the holiday season is over. In fact, every day of the year is devoted to at least one special event, such as Earth Day and Presidents’ Day. Unfortunately not every celebration receives the recognition it deserves; so here are some of February’s most obscure holidays.

February 7th – Wave All Your Fingers at Your Neighbor Day. After weeks, if not months, of being trapped in your dungeon/prison/basement finishing homework, this special holiday is devoted to creeping out/establishing new bonds with others in your area.

February 9th – Clean Out Your Computer Day and Read in the Bathtub Day. Although students around the world will actively take a stand against bullying for this special event (Stop Bullying Day is also 2/9/15), they should not forget about other, equally important, holidays. Clean your keyboard and screen, spend a couple hours doing homework in the bathtub, and try your best to stop a bully!

February 19th – Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day. Widely considered – by the few who celebrate it – the most exciting and fun holiday of the year, this day is dedicated to teaching girls about the male-dominated field of engineering.

February 24th – Single Tasking Day. DCDS students often complain that school doesn’t take up enough time. This day offers the perfect solution! By focusing on only one activity at a time, you’ll be able to double, if not triple the time you spend studying and procrastinating!

February 28th – World Sword Swallower’s Day. With the month of February coming to a close, there’s no better way to go out with a bang than attempting to swallow a sword. Very few people have succeeded without injury, so try it at home and let us know if you figure out the trick. The last day of the month also happens to be Chocolate Soufflé Day, so go ahead and treat yourself. Since it’s no longer Single Tasking Day, challenge yourself and celebrate both of these holidays at once.
